| History: | Built in 1909 with the Club Established in 1911, the Meekatharra Race Club is a horse racing club in Western Australia’s Mid-West region;approximately 750km’s north from Perth or 400km north east from Geraldton. We meet annually, over the WA Queen’s birthday long weekend (September), as part of Meekatharra’s Outback Festival, with two meetings – The Meekatharra Cup on the Saturday and the Meekatharra Sprint on the Monday. Along with a full two day race schedule Meekatharra comes alive with the Outback Festival, featuring a family fair on the Friday with a magnificent fireworks display that night. Saturday kicks off with a street parade before the races settle into full swing from 2pm. The track has food stalls, large screen TV showing the football, a licensed bar and betting available as well as a free bus running to/from town to the track from start to stumps, with evening entertainment provided by a DJ and a rockin’ live band. On Sunday come see the annual all-day rodeo followed by the heel kicking highlight that is the Meekatharra Outback Ball featuring live music, a licensed bar and plenty of good old fashioned country fun. Then on Monday the Meekatharra Sprint is held with sunset drinks at the track before the weekend closes. Plenty of accommodation is available with tickets for the race weekend available at the race track gate along with bar tickets. Contact the Meekatharra Shire for rodeo and ball tickets.
