About Country Racing Association of Western Australia (CRA)
The Country Racing Association of Western Australia represents twenty five country race clubs from Kununurra in the north of the state of Western Australia to Esperance in the south of the state a distance of over 3,000 kms. Many of its member clubs were founded during the early pioneering days of the state, and the colourful race meetings they conduct every year provide a major contribution towards the rich traditions that continue in the towns and communities of Western Australia.
The Country Racing Association of Western Australia was originally proposed by Dixie Solly at a meeting of the TAB Clubs Racing Association in November of 1988. At the time there were seven regional associations in Western Australia responsible for organising and administering their respective country race meetings.
The concept was later discussed by all the clubs at the Country Racing Conference held in April 1989 after which the Country Racing Association was formed with Dixie Solly as the inaugural President and Bill Bevan as the Secretary.
Since it’s beginning the Country Racing Association of Western Australia has been very proactive in the West Australian thoroughbred racing community and continues to act in the best interest of it member clubs.
